10 Feb How important it is to have your own BRAND?
There are almost 1.2 million Realtors in the United States, and in your market, there are probably hundreds of fellow Realtors. Imagine everyone in your market are presenting themselves exactly the same by using their broker’s logo with their name in plain text and a square headshot on everything they do. This is called “running with the herd.” There is nothing wrong with this approach, and certainly your brokerage has done a fine job of creating a recognizable brand for themselves that equates high value.
So how do you stand up and be recognized if you are advertising yourself exactly as every other fellow agent in your office?
You do it through “Personal Branding.”
As an independent contractor who hangs your license by choice at your preferred high-quality brokerage, you are not required to use the company’s template for marketing yourself. It is a great service and probably very inexpensive, but you sacrifice branding yourself as a recognizable individual agent by not building your personal brand now and then using it exclusively going forward.
This is not to say that you do not display your broker’s name and logo as well in its appropriate place, but it does mean coming up with your own personal logo, color scheme, tagline/slogan, perhaps an iconic symbol that will represent you, and even a way of presenting yourself that will become your trademark of quality.
There is an ancient proverb that says “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago; the second-best time is right now.”
